Part Two: 37
YUP, this is late. And what’s worse? I’m cutting off the 28 days in a row thing a few days short :I My wrist is swollen and hurting even when I’m not drawing, and history has shown me that means it’s time to chill out or I’ll start losing feeling in my hand.
SOOOO YEAH. How about updates are now on Wednesdays and Saturdays? Sound good?
ON THE PLUS SIDE, END OF PART TWO WOOOOO

Wednesdays will be good days, as Will Fridays :D because all the other webcomics update on Friday. But Wednesday needed some love.
Rest your wrist so you don’t lose your beautiful drawing capabilities!
HMMMM, what days are under appreciated, then? I may as well post on days that people have nothing to read on.
hm I don’t think it’s the days so much as the time inbetween the updates. Wed. and Fri. are great because they are close, but Fri. to Wed. is five days. so maybe Wed. And Sat.? It kind of evens out the days inbetween, adding on more after Wed, and taking away one more before that gives you more time to draw and not destroy your wrist but also gives us more even updates time wise. Spreads it out a little more…
Does that make sense? I’m talking too much … again… sorry. I didn’t answer your question. Let’s assume Saturday and Wednesday don’t get love.
Hahah, that sounds like good logic to me! Wednesday and Saturday it is :>
Take care of yourself. =(
NEVER maybe alright, you convinced me
Congratulations on finishing part two, and on getting so far with your 28-day update goal! Hope your wrist is okay.
Wednesday and Saturday updates sound good to me…I don’t think I’m following any comics that update on Saturday, so that’d be cool!
If I had managed my time better, I wouldn’t have had to rush a few pages and aggravate my wrist :U I WILL LEARN ONE DAY. But yeah, my wrist will be fine! This is “Chill out for two day” pain, not “Alternate ice and hot bag of corn while popping ibuprofen” pain. I haven’t been off drawing for a full 24 hours yet and the pain is already gone when I’m not using it.
Whoops, now he’s dead. Good job, Beast; you are the master of timing.
Take lots of care of your wrist! I always use a wrist brace when that happens. And as for updates: twice a week is more than enough for me =w=
WHAT’S THAT? YOU FEEL SICK? I’M JUST GONNA TALK BLABLABLA OH SHIT YOU FELL
I pretty much only use my brace for sleeping (sometimes, it’s not so helpful now that I’ve learned to keep it straight as I sleep hahah) and if I’m doing heavy work (I’M LOOKING AT YOU, LAWNMOWER)
Hey there, been following you for a while, and love the comic. However your comment here concerns me. I used to have that problem, my wrist would sometimes flair up, and I ‘d need to stay off of it for a few days and it’d get better. Last year however, in early April it happened again and DIDN’T just go away. a month later I was seeing a doctor. I got a cortizone steroid shot in my arm, saw an occupational therapist and was put on a workout regime, and had to change my lifestyle for the betterment of my right arm. Finally, in late October (7 months later), I had a decent amount of usage from it, but even now I’m still struggling.
After lots of research, I found out I had the warning signs this was coming, and did nothing to prevent it. When you feel pain in your wrist/arm, something is already wrong, and though it may not seem like it, you’re very injured.
Don’t end up like me. Practice proper sitting posture. When at the computer make sure your keyboard and mouse and within a usable distance that you can glue your elbows to your sides; Rearrange your workspace if you have to. I would recommend doing some yoga a couple days a week, especially routines that stretch out your arms. Also get yourself a 5lb pound and workout your dominant/drawing arm to increase your shoulder and forearm strength. Also, something that I’ve found really aggravates the wrist is mouse clicking and typing. If possible, I would say try to reduce those two actions as much as you can. I was able to purchase a very nice trackball mouse so that my palms click the buttons rather than my fingers (and my fingers don’t have to grip the mouse, they just roll the trackball around).
Take care of yourself, and I would seriously recommend going to see your doctor about this, and if you can, talk to an occupational therapist about how to counteract any damage your arm already has.
I know that’s a lot of information to take in, but anytime I see someone experiencing problems like this now, just like I had, I can’t stay quiet. I wish someone had told me what was going on with me before it was too late.
A nice little site I found in my research is linked in my ‘website’ section that had very valuable information.
Take care of yourself. Start right now, don’t let it get worse :3
Wow! Thanks for the insight! I really appreciate you taking the time to share what you know :>
Actually, I’ve had tendinitis for about six years now and it’s better than it used to be (since I’ve learned what bothers it and when to take a break [about every five minutes pretty much hurp de durp]). Provided I don’t marathon draw (like I did about two days ago to catch up and HERE I AM NOW), I don’t have problems. The last six years of my life basically have been adapting to wrist problems, like getting speech recognition so I don’t type any more, becoming ambidextrous and only using my right hand for drawing, no mouse (because, you’re totally right, THAT IS KILLER UGH.), inking differently, and worse of all…moderation *throws computer out window*. There are a million little things in the day I’ve had to change to keep being able to draw comics. Thanks to all this, it is MUCH better than it was when I was 16.
But yeah! Thank you! This was really thoughtful of you and if any of my artist friends develop pain, I’m definitely sending them to your site, since you seem really well educated on it :D
Well that certainly makes me feel better that you’re aware of the problem and have had it checked out =D And I totally know EXACTLY how you feel. Arting in moderation is so very lame D8< (for a while I had to let myself only art for an hour a day, it was sooooo hard 8A8 …and I pushed it sometimes and regretted it the next OTL). I also did the speech recognition software (Dragon Naturally speaking, heck yeah o3o). I'm pretty sure I'll have issues with it for the rest of my adult life, wish I could go back to my blissful childhood days and SMACK MYSELF ON THE HEAD and actually take care of the problem before it got this bad /D;;;
I completely switched over to mousing left handed which I think has helped a great deal (for a while it was a bit overburdened and stressed until it got used to it, but now I can mouse like the wind 8D)
And you are so very welcome, us Gimpy artist gotta look out for each other, right?? ;D
And now he’s on the ground. Poor dude can’t seem to catch a break. And he fainted right in the middle of Beasts explanation too!!
You should definitely take a break if you’re wrist is hurting so much, we’ll be able to survive with fewer updates! …I think. Yeah, we will. Either way, your health is more important~!!
Dogman’s prolly thinking “WOW WAY TO BE RUDE”
My wrist is an old problem, two days of chilling out will fix it right up :>
AW SHIT BEAST BETTER PICK THAT UP.
Freaking take a break, Montoya! JEEZ. Ice your wrist or stab needles in it whateva.
How are you doing with commissions btw? It’s taking me forever to send mine in. I keep changing my mind about what OC I want to force upon you.
AHH WHY NEEDLES? THAT DOESN’T SOUND THERAPEUTIC AT ALL
I’ve got a little bit of a backlog, so you have time :>
beast is like “oh maybe that’s why you weren’t listening”
“and now i’m gonna have to carry you back”
“what a hassle”
That’s why it pays to think things through before screwing up dudes’ arms, dog man D:
Their relationship’s not off to a great start. First threatening his father, then scaring him, telling him to walk off the massive stomach wound, then bores him to unconscious. I’m looking forward to the Wednesday and Saturday updates!
Yeah, he’s…he’s gonna need to learn some tact. Or common sense or something, jeez.
